An intensive program focused on teaching applied bioinformatics with hands-on sessions
Program Learning Outcomes
By the end of this program, you will be able to:
Develop foundational skills in bioinformatics and genomics data analysis
Gain hands-on experience using Linux-based computational environments and standard bioinformatics tools
Build a solid understanding of transcriptomics and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) principles and applications
Work confidently with commonly used genomics and transcriptomics data formats
Experience a complete RNA-seq analysis workflow, from raw data to biological insight
Solve real bioinformatics challenges and present bioinformatics findings

Schedule
- Dates: February 4-7, 2026 (Wednesday - Saturday)
- Daily Sessions: 9:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00
- Final Day: Finishes at 14:00 (2 PM)
- Venue: Building 9

Foundations & Transcriptomics
Bioinformatics foundations, computing environments, genomic file formats, and introduction to transcriptomics and RNA-seq experimental design.

Quality evaluation and control, read alignment to reference genome, and read counting/quantification to build expression matrices.
